Prepositions of time -2

Here are a few more prepositions that denote time:

  1. Before – It denotes time prior to an action

e.g. You must finish your work before going outside to play.

2. After – It denotes time subsequent to an action

e.g. We shall discuss this after a short tea break.

3. From – It denotes the point of beginning of an action. It is accompanied by the ending point too.

e.g. I work in office from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

4. During – It denotes a range of time in which an action occurs

e.g. You are not allowed to talk during the examination.

5. Until – It denotes the point of time till which an action continues

e.g. You can’t go out to play until you complete your task.

 

Remember, we always say:

  1. It is five by my watch.
  2. I get up early in the morning.
  3. We play outside in the evening.
  4. We have dinner at night.
